New economies and new artistic practices also need new spaces of culture and its mediation. From temporary spaces to the development of new cultural complexes, development concepts are being discussed in both Western and Eastern and Southeastern Europe and in part are already being realized. In a cooperation between VIENNAFAIR The New Contemporary, RDI Moscow, Next Edition Partners Vienna, and Triad Berlin, a new program of cultural and architectonic interventions in development areas in Western and Eastern Europe will be introduced. “I am personally concerned with substantially strengthening the Vienna-Moscow cultural axis as part of my involvement in VIENNAFAIR The New Contemporary. polis 21 is an interdisciplinary and trans-institutional think-and-do-tank dealing with urban development, new architectural and cultural ideas and interventions for development areas in Western and Eastern Europe linked to creative industries and their potential cultural, social, and economic function for cities. polis 21: urban interventions develops scenarios for this transformation process and advises local authorities in the implementation of these projects. Our targeted partners are architects, cultural workers, representatives of the creative industries, sociologists, urban and project developers, and policy-makers. We are pleased to have our first opportunity at VIENNAFAIR The New Contemporary to introduce this cooperation project,” says Dmitry Aksenov, VIENNAFAIR chairman and co-organizer of polis 21: urban interventions.
